multi-key bindings in Xcode?

Hi,

I'm trying to get XCode to behave more like emacs. It seems though
that somewhere along the way the way, support for multi-key menu key
bindings disappeared (text key bindings work just fine).
Is there a hack to get key bindings like ^X^S working again? I tried
to edit the pbxkeys file directly, without luck. :(
