I was thinking ems because I use a different font size than the builtin
default, and also for the resolution-independence feature of Leopard.  px
as a measure is so atypographical.

Your 3.0 shot looks like my 3.0 (Leopard installed as "Archive and Install"
over a 10.4.10), and my Xcode 2.4.1 looks like your 2.5.

I definitely prefer the wider margin, not least because I use a graphics
tablet (helps me manage my RSI), and 3.0's tiny margin is just too tiny.
Accessibility is an important consideration, and none of us is getting any
younger.
