terminal app always comes up with a specific file in vi

I have a saved terminal setting which is wrong. I once upon a time started a vi session from xcode for a source cpp file. Now, every time I start the terminal app from the dock it comes up with the vi session for that file loaded. How can I reset the app to just give me a new shell?
