Paul,
Xcode 3 still comes with GCC 4.0.1, so OpenMP is not supported. GCC
4.2 *does* support OpenMP, and it's available via fink, but I've had
some serious issues with fink under Leopard so far (always happens
with fink and new versions of OS X). I did get a very simple OpenMP
program to compile and run with this on Tiger yesterday (yes Tiger,
not Leopard--the compiles are failing under Leopard), so OpenMP is
available right now to Tiger.
There are two issues here, though: One is that since it's the
official GCC and not Apple's GCC, the Apple extensions don't work.
The other is that I compiled my program with a Makefile and not Xcode,
so I have no idea how Xcode would handle it.

Gang,
I haven't been following all the discussions of Leopard and Xcode
3 very closely but I do need to ask a simple question. I can
still use Xcode 2.4+ on Leopard without any problems, correct?
Does anyone know of any stumbling blocks. I intend to upgrade to
Leopard sometime this weekend. I will probably do my Dual-G5
first to check things out a bit with Xcode prior to my MacBook Pro
(where I do all my work).
However, my assumption is that there is no problem in continuing
to use Xcode 2.4+ on Leopard for a bit of time. If anyone knows a
contrary thought to this, let me know.
Xcode 2.4.x is not supported on Leopard. However, we are planning
to release Xcode 2.5 developer tools that will be supported on
Tiger and Leopard as a transitional step to moving to Xcode 3.0.
More info coming soon...
Will there be any major surprises in building apps in Xcode 3 on
Leopard that will run on Tiger? Assuming we're just opening up
existing Xcode 2.4 projects, of course. I want to know what to
expect once I install Leopard on one of my dev machines.
Does Xcode 3 support Open MP?
