I've tested it with the rest of the alphabet. The disappearing act happens with both the lower and upper case of "L". If a lower case or uppercase "O" is used, it is replaced with an appropriate case "O" with a slash on it.
If I open the file up in bbedit, the file appears correctly. The does compile correctly.
This happened with both Xcode 2.4.1 and 2.5 on PPC. Xcode on Intel does not seem to have this bug.
Yes, we've seen it. You have an old, experimental cut of Monaco that has strange ligatures (in this case, slash ell) enabled. You need to go into ~/Library/Fonts or FontBook and delete teh bad Monaco.
