You declare it as "extern" and the Linker is expecting to find it in another compilation unit, and it isn't.

I suggest looking up what the "extern" keyword is used for in C++ before continuing, such as this one.  You might note that the "extern" qualifier doesn't appear in too many basic C++ tutorials...that's a clue.

GAA extern... man my brain just doesn't work correctly on friday nights for some reason... thanks tons for the help!
