I wonder if you could clarify this, for the record. Do you mean /
Library/PreferencePanes/ ? Are you writing a preference pane?
If you aren't, the interaction you are suggesting is very strange, and
the solution you found isn't possible for most people.

What do you mean by "debugger crashes"? Is the debugger itself
crashing? Is you application crashing and trapping into the debugger?
We really need to know more about exactly what you are seeing. Until
then review...
