New Cocoa Project's Frameworks?

  • Subject: New Cocoa Project's Frameworks?

I created a small test app the other day, and it reminded about something I'd wondered about in the past.

When you create a new project in Xcode using the Cocoa Application template, the project has a reference to Cocoa.framework included in the lone target grouped under Linked Frameworks. However, it also has references to AppKit, CoreData and Foundation under Other Frameworks, but not included in the target.

Since Cocoa is a superset of these frameworks, why are they included in the Cocoa App project template at all, especially if they're never directly linked into the build product?
