Sadly, list archive search is broken, and has been so for some time. There
don't appear to be any indexed posts on any list that are later than 03 May
2007. I have sent a message to list admin(s) about it, so they should
know, but I haven't heard anything about a fix yet.
As a work-around, google with site:lists.apple.com as a search term.
FWIW, my archive-search test case was to search all lists for the widely
used word 'data', then view the results by date.
