I have a project with 100+ .h and .m files. I had successfully done a Project Find on "In Project" an hour or two ago. Now when I search for known text using the still-open Project Find window, it produces no results. The "search" is almost instantaneous, which leads me to believe no files are being searched at all.

The same search with "In Project and Frameworks" succeeds as expected. There is only one project file open.

I have done a Clean All - no effect. I have rebuilt - no effect. I have rebuilt the Code Sense index - no effect. I have quit and relaunched Xcode - no effect. I have deleted the {username}.* files from the project package - no effect.

I'm going to miss the ability to search the files in my project. What should I be doing to remedy this?

When you were in the Project Find window, did you ever hit the Options button and change any of the settings there?

If so, you may have modified what files are searched, or what filters are used, which could cause the behavior you are seeing.

The search names such as "In Project" and "In Project and Frameworks" are only traditions. By changing the settings in the Options dialog, you could actually modify the criteria for "In Project" such that it only searches frameworks, for example, or only searches project that include the word "FOO" in them.

If you go into the Options dialog and don't see anything, you may want to either completely delete your Xcode preferences file (~/Library/ Preferences/com.apple.Xcode.plist) or edit the plist file in Property List Editor to remove the PBXGlobalFindOptionsSets key.

If you quit Xcode, do that, reopen Xcode, and go back to the Project Find window, Xcode will regenerate the find options sets for you, using the default values, and your searches may start working again.
