This is a known bug in Tiger that a lot of people have hit. After some period of time Monaco stops displaying correctly, as if the font size is getting smaller in some places. I've heard it might be something with the font cache as rebooting fixes the problem for a few days...

Letter combinations which were previously distinct, such as *p, now bleed together. Also, many letters have slightly different shapes. There haven't been any recent changes to my system, but maybe I'll go ahead and update to 10.4.11 and see if the upgrade has some beneficial side effects. Thanks for the fast response. -Steve

After starting up my Xcode project this morning, I noticed that the appearance of the text in the .c and .txt files has changed slightly. I checked the Preferences/Fonts & Colors Pane - it still shows everything set to the factory defaults. Very strange - I haven't changed any project settings recently. I prefer the previous text appearance - anyone have an idea what has happened? Thanks!

You'll have to give us even the slightest hint of how the appearance has "changed slightly."

One thing to check is the set of installed fonts in your system. Changing the fonts themselves will change their appearance in Xcode.
