We actually found that the absence of the TOC being displayed caused
many problems for people, which is why we added this. However, I
understand the frustration.
Previously, one could hide the TOC and it would remain hidden until
showing it again, but since the Januar update, hiding the TOC is no
longer persistent.
It wasn't really persistent previously. It was just so easy to
access a document in a manner that the TOC didn't show up that it
appeared to be a persistent preference.
Is there any way to fix this (some hidden pref value or similar)?
Or do we just have to wait for the next update?
Improvements are on the way. We're taking some extra time to ensure
we've covered all the angles, but I think (famous last words) that
people will be pleased with the result.
We'll see ;-)
Anyway, while we're at the topic, the back button (the one in the
upper left corner) would cause the previous page to be opened in
Safari instead of inline in the Xcode documentation window. Do you
want me to file a bug report about this or is this already covered?

Since updating our Xcode Documentation to the Januar Doc Update,
