Anyway, while we're at the topic, the back button (the one in the upper left corner) would cause the previous page to be opened in Safari instead of inline in the Xcode documentation window. Do you want me to file a bug report about this or is this already covered?

Usually we'd want a bug, but you can trust this has been well-covered.

That said, as we're always pressing on this list, if you get to the point of thinking "Should I file a bug", the answer is "Yes". It's very frequently the fourth or fifth version of a bug report that has the biggest impact, either because it makes it clear that this is a problem everyone is hitting and so moves it to the top of our priorities, or because the fifth person happens to mention a new detail that makes it possible for us to reproduce or solve the problem.

We actually found that the absence of the TOC being displayed caused many problems for people, which is why we added this. However, I understand the frustration.

Previously, one could hide the TOC and it would remain hidden until showing it again, but since the Januar update, hiding the TOC is no longer persistent.

It wasn't really persistent previously. It was just so easy to access a document in a manner that the TOC didn't show up that it appeared to be a persistent preference.

Is there any way to fix this (some hidden pref value or similar)? Or do we just have to wait for the next update?

Improvements are on the way. We're taking some extra time to ensure we've covered all the angles, but I think (famous last words) that people will be pleased with the result.

We'll see ;-)

Since updating our Xcode Documentation to the Januar Doc Update, every time a new page is shown in the Xcode Documentation Viewer, it will show the left-hand side TOC section, which is very annoying, given that in most quick API lookups, this uses valuable window real estate, but is not needed.
