Software has bugs and it appears that you may have found one. The best
course of action would be to report it :). (and include as much
relevant information as possible; e.g. what was the encoding of the
file being edited? what text it actually contained before the edit
that caused the problem? etc.). The sarcasm isn't very helpful.
