Just to kill the suspense, the bug is apparently in my code, because this
feature isn't working with GCC 4.0, either. It does work in a previous
version of my app, although I don't recall changing anything since then that
would be relevant. Anyway, I'll go back to LLVM-GCC 4.2 and give it a good
workout.
