Please clarify.
What do you mean by ""main" search field"?
While I'm in Xcode, now, I see a search field
at the top right corner. If I press
command+f
it opens a search window, with focus either
in the Search or Replace field (it's annoying that
it's not always in the Search field, but...).
If I press command+alt+f it jumps me to the
little search field in the upper corner without
opening the search window.
But then, being an impoverished US software
developer, I'm using an ancient version of Xcode,
so the behavior you see may be different.
