I figured out what happened. When I recreated the new template project
the source file were saved with UTF text encoding. Switching the text
encoding to Western (Mac OS Roman) caused the macro expansion to work
correctly.

When I was using Mac OS X 10.4, I created a project template for Xcode
2. For the most part it was pretty straight forward. The most
difficult thing to deal with was macro substitution within the NIB file.
I am now trying to update this template to be more compatible with
features Xcode 3. This time I have elected to use the XIB format,
which make macro substitution a lot easier. Everything is working
fine except for the fact that no macro substitution is occurring for
the created source code files. I don't know why this is as it was
easy to do when I did the Xcode 2 template, so I wasn't expecting any
problems.
What is likely needed to fix this problem with macro expansion in the
source code files?
