But Xcode 2.5 uses the same build of GCC as 2.4 uses. Going from 2.4
to 2.5 doesn't mean switching compilers at all, and the IDE got a
*very* minimal update. It's really just the minimum necessary to get
the 2.x series to install in a different location and run on
Leopard. Other than that, it's identical to 2.4 - it doesn't support
Objective-C 2.0 or any of the new Leopard-only APIs, and can't build
against the 10.5 SDK, for instance.
Compared to the Tiger->Leopard upgrade that makes it necessary to
begin with, the impact of upgrading from Xcode 2.4 to 2.5 is trivial.
It still might break compiled apps. You need to keep around and use
the Xcode 2.4 10.4.u SDK if you want your QuickTime app to continue to
launch with OS X 10.4.8 and a corresponding QT version.
Found it out the hard way with a app deployed to quite some non-
updated kiosks. Especially fun when the app substitues the Finder ...
