I am trying to update some files in the CVS folders for the project
I'm working. Specifically I need to change the CVS Root for all the
CVS folders in my project. I thought, piece of cake, I'll use Xcode
search and replace, and search in a specific top level folder via the
Options dialog of the Project Find dialog.
Unfortunately, when doing this search, Xcode starts the search, gets a
few matches, and then just hangs. I tried this one two machines (PPC
and Intel iMacs), Tiger and Leopard, and with Xcode 2.4.x and 2.5.
Using Thread Viewer, I can see that the threads are running but are
Waiting on locks, semaphores, condition variables and the like. I let
this search go overnight and it's still hung. I am certain it
shouldn't take this long since I've done other searches of the same
folder structure and it doesn't take more than a minute.
Then it gets interesting, I try to use Xcode 3.0 and, doing the same
search, get no search results. This is when I am certain there are
hits. I can open a file in one of the folders and do a file search
with the same search string and get a match. However, Xcode 3 seems to
ignore CVS files, whereas in previous versions you needed to filter
those files using a RegEx.
Anyways, I wonder if anyone has seen this kind of behavior before and
if there are possible workarounds. Also, is it true that Xcode 3
ignores CVS folder by default now. If so, is there any way to override
this behavior?
Thanks.
