All true. The real problem is that Apple doesn't provide a way for people who are part of an NDA program to discuss NDA'd software, either through a restricted mailing list or a restricted bulletin board that only NDA-approving people have access to, say in the iPhone developer area. I understand why NDA discussion is not allowed on a public list like Cocoa-dev or Xcode-users. I don't understand why it couldn't be done with restricted access to a web site or mailing list, though.

The iPhone SDK is not the first NDA'd product to have this problem and it won't be the last. I hope that some of you who are going to the conference, give a deluge of feedback on that. It's incredible how badly this part of the SDK release was handled (basically missing at launch, and then never dealt with again, at least publicly). I can't make it to the conference this year, but this is something that really needs to be addressed for future products. This won't be the last time that discussion of NDA software among NDA'd developers will be useful.

It's just common sense that products will be developed faster, better, and more correctly if some sort of discussion forum exists. It's in everyone's best interest, including Apple's.

Anyway, public SDK, public code samples/video, public "How To" videos. NDA?
I don't get it.

Actually all of those require a login to see and that login requires you to agree to the NDA (the account agreement).

Also the login page states...

"All information presented or provided to you by Apple through the
iPhone Dev Center is considered Confidential Information and is
subject to your Registered iPhone Developer Terms and Conditions with
Apple."

(note your browser may cache this login after the first login)
