Ok so the confusion is brought about by the fact that whilst Migration Assistant brings over /Developer* folders it does not however bring over unixdev from /usr/bin and so opendiff gcc etc etc don't come over.

It's also a little confusing to me why Migration Assistant doesn't bring over /Library/Receipts for 3rd party apps that it brings over from /Applications.

If you run uninstall-devtools mode=all you lose unixdev

Just exactly how do you get unixdev back?

There is no reason to need /Developer when you have / Developer_XCode3.1.1 is there?

But the iphone SDK pkg which includes XCode3.1.1 doesn't reinstall unixdev right?
