Title: How do you use Xcode 3?
Hi everyone,

I just subscribed to the list, and judging by the posts, people do use Xcode 3.

One of the happiest days in my development practice was when I discovered that there's the Xcode 2.5 upgrade which can run on Leopard and I don't have to use Xcode 3 anymore.

I'm having two big issues with Xcode 3:

- The Code Sense:
I couldn't find a way to make it work like in Xcode 2.x, that is to show the pop-up menu with suggestions every time you start typing a word. For me, the new way Code Sense works in Xcode 3 is unpredictable, unreliable, user-unfriendly and counter-productive.

Writing code with Code Sense in Xcode 2.5 is an enjoyable process. In Xcode 3, it becomes a laborious unpleasant experience where you need to type much more while achieving much less.

The only way to mimic the Xcode 2 Code Sense behavior I found, is to press Escape every time I start typing a new word… not a pleasant option.

Am I missing something? Is there any way to make Code Sense work the old way?

- Xcode 3 (and the new Interface Builder) are unbearably slow.

>From my experience, Xcode 3 is about 1.6 times slower than Xcode 2. For example, it takes 25 sec to build a project in Xcode 2.5, and 47 sec to build the same project in Xcode 3.1.

My projects are relatively small, but working in Xcode 3 is still a huge waste of time. I don't know how people with large projects can get anything done.

I don't want to be all negative, and ideally I'd like to use the latest version.

So I wonder if it's just my experience? Or there are solutions available I'm not aware of?

I'm on MacPro 2x2.66 GHz, 3 GB RAM, 10.5.4.

Thanks for any help,
Leo
