Remote debugging problems in Xcode

Hi All,

I am posting this here after I was advised to do so in the Cocoa-dev group, hopefully this is a more appropriate place.

I am following the technical note regarding debugging an authorization plugin at <http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2008/tn2108.html>, but keep getting the following error:

Could not open socket: /tmp/.XcodeGDBRemote-3439-0 to get mobile device file descriptor.

Obviously, some part of the process cannot write to /tmp, but I have tested permissions and see no reason this should happen. I have gone through the note three times, using a disk image and a firewire drive but still get the same error.

Can anyone shed any light on this, as it has had me stumped for a few days.

Regards,

Patrick
