I don't normally follow up my own posts but I didn't get much response
and wanted to share the solution in case anyone else sees this problem
in the future.
I have googled this problem to death with no real success, then I read
something unrelated about different versions of Xcode running on the
target and development machine causing problems. So I checked the
versions I was using, sure enough, I had 3.1 on the target and an
older 3.1 beta on the development machine. I downloaded the latest
3.1.1 from the ADC, installed on both machines and... remote debugging
now works like a charm.
Now at last I can get to fixing the real problem.
So I am off to bed happy. :-)
Regards,
Patrick
