I have no idea about performance; I was so happy not to have all the
headaches I was getting with make that I jumped on it.  I doubt that the
performance has improved significantly, but have you tried the 1.1.0
build yet?

Yeah, it's not any faster :(.  I should note that it's still a fine piece of software despite its speed, it creates correct builds and is very customizable via its scanners and emitters interfaces, it's just slow on medium-to-large projects.
