I have a fairly large project and I get that error a lot. My voodoo to
avoid it is to open the project and wait (a few minutes) until Xcode's
processor utiliization settles down. If I start a build prematurely,
sometimes I get that error or sometimes it wants to recompile my
precompiled header but gets "file not found" errors on system
framework headers; both require me to close the project and start over.
My other voodoo is to never close the project, but lately I've had
some kernel panics where Xcode seems to be implicated while the Mac
was idle, so I don't have a perfect solution.

Switching to another config and back to my Debug config would solve
the problem. It's still happening in the 3.1.1 beta. We'll be
sticking with 2.5 until all the 3.x bugs and slowness have been fixed.
So is this a well-known problem and has the Xcode team been
scrambling to fix it ever since it first appeared in 2007? Or should
I report it again? I mentioned it in radar://5583305.
