behavior beyond strange

My open source program, AttoComp, a music composition program, manifests behavior beyond strange:
It evidently returns as NaN the value of the API function pow(x, y), where x and y are perfectly ordinary doubles.

I will provide the project (clear: 608 KB/ Stuffit X Archive: 72 KB) with a recipe as to how to manifest the bug
generateChromaticNote after chromaticNote = pitchFromTones, chromaticNote=nan
to anyone who can provide a fix and a cogent explanation, as an attachment to an email.

Although this is an open-source project and I have extremely limited funds, I am desperate enough to be willing to pay something for a solution.
