Unless you have a **really** good reason to use CVS, I'd strongly recommend that you use Git or Subversion instead. Both work over SSH, so if you have remote login enabled, you're halfway there. I cannot recommend CVS because it is really old and has a lot of problems, such as its inability to rename files or remove folders.
