A little more info on this: Xcode uses the context of the active project if you use Quick Help to get to the docs. It doesn't do anything special if you are just searching in the doc window (we tried that and found it confused more than helped).

Thanks -- I get it now. The title is the name of the doc set where the first match is found. Since a lot of classes are in both iPhone and Mac OS X, and since iPhone is searched first, that is the one that is found.

That's basically it -- I believe we try to be smarter than that based on the active project, but because Xcode is very project- focused and the doc window is not tied to any particular project, it's not always possible for the window to get the info it needs to do the best thing.

There's probably nothing wrong with your configuration; the Xcode doc window just has to guess what doc to show you and doesn't always have all the context necessary.

You can ensure this doesn't happen by putting some search term in the search field to start a search, then using the popup list of doc sets to turn off the iPhone doc set.

I noticed something on my Xcode documentation window title and it has me wondering if there is something configured incorrectly for my Xcode system.

I am developing an OS X Objective-C foundation program (not Cocoa, just a tool app) and popped open the documentation window to look up a class reference. The window title at the top says "iPhone Dev Center: NSCharacterSet Class Reference". I am curious about the fact that it says "iPhone Dev Center:" when in fact I am not developing an iPhone application.

Is this normal behavior or is there something messed up on my configuration?
