OT: Which MacBook Pro to buy

I noticed when I startup the XCode debugger my computer starts to swap. So I figure it might help if I upgrade my MBP to something that can hold a little more memory.

I am planning on upgrading my current MBP (1st Gen, 15", 2GB) to a more current one. This is to be used for development and why I am asking for your opinion on this. The two systems I am thinking of getting are:

15" MBP with 2.53GHz CPU and 4GB
17" MBP with 2.66GHz CPU and 4GB (to start and planning on upgrading to 8GB if needed)

Here is what I debating in my own mind:

Do I get the 17" that I can up to 8GB of RAM or go with the 15" which is easier to transport?

From my understanding the 17" is not as portable and is hard to use when on a plane. But the 15" max memory is 4GB vs. the 17" 8GB.

Is the extra 4GB worth it? Does it help when developing apps on the Mac.

Note: The non-removable battery is not a concern here.

Paul Franz
