These are the symptoms:
1/ When starting up Interface Builder from XCode by double clicking
the xib file Interface Builder hangs. If I start the xib file from
the Finder without XCode running all goes well. I guess it has to
do with the communication between XCode and Interface Builder that
happens at startup. Maybe I changed some header files that cause IB
to go in an infinite loop?
2/ In Interface Builder, if I try to select views in my application
window I get the hand-cursor instead of the select cursor. Clicking
on a view doesn't select it, but clicking and dragging over a view
does.
3/ When I try to refactor from XCode, XCode complains it can't find
MainMenu.nib ... there is no MainMenu.nib, there is only
MainMenu.xib and I am pretty sure that used to work with this xib-
file until a while ago?
It all seems like there is some cache that needs to be cleaned up
somewhere, that's my guess.
Does anybody have any hints on how to resolve any of these issues
(or all if possible)? Does anybody have an idea on what I might be
doing wrong that I ended up in a situation like this?

I don't know whether you've tried this already, but the first thing
that I would do in such a situation is uninstall the Developer Tools
and then reinstall them from scratch. Also, you don't say what
version you are using, but you could also update to a more recent
version, if you're not at the latest, to see if that fixes whatever
bugs might be manifesting themselves on your particular setup. But
I'd definitely try uninstalling/reinstalling the devtools as the first
step, regardless of version changes. Hope this helps!
