You never mentioned if your toolbar were implemented with Carbon or Cocoa. You're probably better off asking on a mailing list devoted to the technology, not the tool.

I remember a few things in my Cocoa app breaking once I linked against the 10.5 SDK. Looking through my diary, at least one was because a 3rd party library was mutating a dictionary it was iterating. I think that may have generated console output. So look there.
