I'm extremely curious as to why this actually works for you.

What can I say. It worked. I confess to not being much of an Xcode expert. I've read much of Anderson's book -- at least the part's I've needed so far :-).

For the curious. Lots of stuff is touched when I did a right click and select "compile" on a help folder. For one thing the timestamp of the folder changed. Other changes:

* the timestamp of the Resources folder, because...
* the timestamp of every help related file in the Resources
  folder changed.
* the timestamps of the .pbxindex .pbxtree and .pbxstrings files
  and folders changed.

I tested by:
  ls -lR > /tmp/foo
  right-click-and-select-compile-on-the-blue-help-folder
  ls -lR > /tmp/bar
  diff -u /tmp{foo,bar}

/\/\arc
