I am almost continually getting the status "GDB: timed out fetching

Does anyone know what causes this timeout, and what I can do to
avoid it?
It rarely occurred unde Xcode 2.4 on Tiger, but frequently occurs
under Xcode 3 on Leopard. Way too frequently.
Have you tried the solution found at http://lists.apple.com/archives/xcode-users/2006/Nov/msg00136.html
?
Or are you using C++? No matter if I use data formatters or not, with C
++ it seems to be very luck-based if it times out or not. I also
remember having trouble when I have a class that has static members of
its own class, the recursion was killing everything. Don't remember if
I just gave up, if it was fixed or if I am still waiting for a fix;
pretty sure I filed a bug about it.
