Fwiw, none of the above have ever happened to me. I'm not implying
that Xcode is perfect by any means. But it is has never "deleted files
on me", "removed things from SVN", "thrown away changes", or "crashed
with no backups"[1]. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been using
Xcode since it was Project Builder and don't recall any of those
things happening.

[1] Actually, not entirely sure what "crashed with no backups" means.
But if I've saved a file and Xcode has subsequently crashed (don't
recall the last time that's happened, but I'm sure it has), the file
still contained the changes I had last saved.
