Furthermore, Xcode is extremely buggy. It's the most buggy piece of
development software
I've used. It's deleted files on me, it's removed things from SVN,
it's thrown away changes,
it's crashed with no backups, a day does not go by where I do not
utter the phrase $@##@$
XCODE!!!
Wow! I have taken out Macs in all kinds of ways when developing on
them and have been using XCode since it was first released.
LIke Rob I remember Project Builder.
In all that time..
I have lost one file *exactly* once when I locked a machine up hard
while debugging and had to cycle the power to shut down.
I have had XCode tell me that something has gone wrong and it needs to
shut down, but unlike VS it will give you the option to struggle on if
you wish and complete your tasks.. Often it will clear itself and
recover.
One thing that XCode always seems to do is save your most recent
changes, even if you lock a machine up during a compile / debug
iteration which causes a machine crash.
XCode is not perfect, but pound for pound it's the most reliable
development environment I have worked on in 30 years of coding.
I have to wonder if there is something up with your setup, or perhaps
even your HD if you are truly experiencing the kind of problems you say.
Kind regards,
Stephen.
