anyway, it bothers me that xcode uses the same fonts and sizes for
the screen and the printer. it would be better if there were 2
separate sets of parameters. the thing is that i have increased my
font sizes for the screen to make the text easier to read, but when
i apply those same settings to the printer, the text on the paper
is too big, wasting paper and ink (or toner or whatever).
I have the same situation: larger screen fonts.
It might just be my printer, which is a PostScript laser printer, but
in Xcode 3.1.2's Print sheet there is a Scale input field that says
"100%" by default. Change it to 66, and observe the page preview on
the left change to a smaller font-size, thus fitting more text on the
page, and the total number of pages also get smaller.
In other apps, this change of Scale usually appears in the Page Setup
print dialog.
Personally, I have also created presets for 2-up, double-sided, etc.
This makes it easier to choose different collections of print
formats. Creating presets is all done in the print dialog itself.
For reference, my printer is a Brother HL-1670N with added RAM.
