I just came across a really strange behavior in Interface Builder
(Xcode 3.1.2) in that IB doesn't save changes made to the layout of
a toolbar.
I wanted to remove a space separator from the default layout and no
matter what I did, I couldn't make the change stick. Closing and
reopening the window would reset the toolbar to its previous setup.
I noticed that IB doesn't register an undo action if a space
separator is removed or added. IB also doesn't care if I only
reorder the items (separators and others), the change doesn't stick
(although an undo action is registered).
I found that the way to make the change stick was to remove and add
again a non-separator item.
Is this something someone else has noticed? I never did notice this
before and I played with the particular toolbar a lot. Is there
something special about my toolbar (I use NSSegmentedControls and
one NSPopUpButton on it) that could trigger such behavior?
This was a known bug in IB 3.0, so I guess it was never fixed or else
it reappeared recently.
When I ran into this, I found that if I put a space separator as the
first toolbar item and left it there, then other changes to the
toolbar usually would stick and save. This gave the toolbar a sort of
indented look, but that wasn't too awful.
