I'd like to know who called and when so I could log the event. I've had repeated requests from clients looking to create time and materials tracking apps. It would be nice to capture if the phone call was personal or business to pro-rate a personal/business iPhone and back it up with documentation.
I played quite a bit with this and found that while my app was running and a phone or SMS message arrived, my app was pre-empted for the call. At the call conclusion, my app started running again and I received a notification with the number of the callee. I couldn't understand why this functionality was not made generically available, but Apple Has It's Reasons.
