This is a known (and very unfortunate) bug deep in the internals of
XML parsing. The fix is known, and until we can get that released
there's no real workaround.

Xcode just updated me to version 14.8, and the problem is still
there. Will it be fixed in a later version of Xcode, or is there
some sort of reload I can do with the new docset that will cure it?
Xcode 3.1.2, iPhone SDK release.
