Some more info:
- Trashing IB's preferences makes no difference
- IB eventually does open/create the nib window after beach balling for about 2 1/2 minutes.
- All subsequent open/create operations then behave normally.
- Restarting IB results in the same 2 1/2 minute beach balling when the first nib is opened/created.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is restarting my Mac...
