To make a long story short, the Xcode integration with IB doesn't work
since I installed the iPhone SDK 3.1.2. The light indicator at the
bottom of the window in IB is gray, which mean that IB doesn't see
Xcode. Any changes made in Xcode is not reflected in IB.
I did find a workaround. The problem only occurs if I open my Xcode project by using the "Recent projects" window when Xcode opens (or by browsing the recent projects list in the File menu). If I open the project by double-clicking its name in the Finder, everything works fine!
What that implies is that you have two different versions of Xcode on your system, and that double-clicking the project file in the Finder is launching a different copy of Xcode.
Try it both ways and then from the Dock choose Reveal in Finder to see if this is so.
