I'm having trouble finding information on the recommended compiler to use in various situations. I use combinations of C, C++, Obj-C and Obj-C++ and target both PPC and Intel. I note that Clang doesn't fully support C++, although I've successfully built a large mixed language project with it and it seems to run on both Intel and PPC (although I haven't tested it thoroughly, nor on any OS earlier than Leopard). Does Clang complain about C++ it doesn't support or does it fail silently?

clang is not able to compile C++ at all (or may very simple C++ project that don't use STL, templates, et other C++ features), and so it silently invokes gcc instead.

For OS version limitation, I don't have an answer.
