I'm teaching a course on Programming in C. I'm asking my students to
use gcc. One of them would like to work from a laptop, but they have
an old version of the Mac OS (older than Leopard) and claims that the
applications disk did not come with XCode.
So... how can I recommend getting XCode (and hence, gcc, right?) for
this student?

You need the free ADC membership in order to be able to log in.
Are you suggesting that once you've logged in, you can download earlier
versions? They told me it wasn't possible.
If so, can you tell me how, or point me to a place that instructs me how
to? (Sorry.. I'm not the one doing it, it's the student.. I have the
newest version of MacOS.. and I don't have an ADC membership).
