Just got round to trying this out and it solved the problem. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated. I will keep all my projects in my documents folder from now on!

Hello Dan,
There's the reason for the different behavior right there. Xcode defaults to make things inside the Developer folder relative to the Developer folder. We'd much prefer if you were to treat the Developer folder like the System folder - A place where we (Apple) control the contents, where you can nuke everything and reinstall without risking user data.
