is interface builder suppose to autosave upon build?

Xcode and IB are in sync concerning outlets entered into code, etc,
but i remember not having to explicitly save any UI changes made in IB
prior to building the project, that building would (optionally) prompt
me to save changes before building since changes were made in IB.

this doesn't happen anymore. i have to explicitly save UI changes
i've made in IB prior to building. otherwise, these changes will
simply not show up.

is there an option i'm forgetting about? maybe this is a new
"feature" in Xcode 3.2.1?
