I noticed the slowdown again today:

1. Use Xcode 3.2.1 on a project for several days, sleeping Mac at night.
2. Do a Search In Project. Time: 16 seconds.
3. Close project.
4. Reopen project
5. Do same search: 16 seconds again.
6. Quit Xcode
7. Relaunch Xcode
8. Reopen sam project.
9. Do same search: 8 seconds.

Now, maybe 2x doesn't seem to serious. But if I'm recalling correctly, if I'd not have quit Xcode and continued using it for a couple more days, the 16 seconds would have become much more, and building and text editing would have been noticeably slow also . But I'm not going to let that happen any more, not on my watch.

This bug could be very expensive to reproduce. Maybe Apple could hire a summer intern, pay her develop the game she's been wanting to make, with the stipulation that Xcode not be relaunched for 3 weeks. So she doesn't pull her hair out, give her a nice Mac Pro and measure the performance delta.
