Ok. I closed XCode, moved those files/folders, opened XCode, and created a new project. This still results in the same effect of XCode continuously using more and more memory.

I think I have traced the issue to the in-program editor. Once I set XCode to use a different editor (instead of XCode's built-in editor) I don't notice the issues.

That brings up another question (which I may or may not have already mentioned in this thread, but I haven't found an answer yet). When I have an external editor set for a file type, and I double-click on that file in the Groups and Files area, the file opens in the external program. However, if I highlight the file name in Groups and Files and press enter, it opens in XCode's editor. Does this seem wrong to anyone else? If I have files set to open in an external editor, they should open in that editor whether I double click or press enter on them. I'm a heavy keyboard user, so having to move to the mouse to double-click to open a file is a bit annoying. Is this a setting I haven't found yet?

If so, Apple might be able to reproduce it if you send them your Xcode settings (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Xcode.plist, and the ~/Library/Application Support/Xcode folder) attached to a bug report filed on bugreporter.apple.com.
