There's another, free, option: OpenAFS (http://www.openafs.org).
It generally works well both on Mac OS X and Windows (we use it
our department), although I'm not sure how difficult it is to
set up the server side.
There's one bug in the current Mac client that may or may not be
a deal breaker though: if you try to process a largish static
library that resides on an AFS volume with ranlib, then ranlib
crashes with a bus error (there's some bug in its handling of
writing to mmap'ed files).
