Source of "$(GROUP)"

I am trying to figure out where XCode is obtaining its Installation Group ( $(GROUP) ) default setting from, so I can change it -- it is somehow erroneously set to be the same as the owner.

"GROUP" is not listed in the "XCode Settings" docs.

Anybody know:

1. What the answer is.
2. Where this answer is documented.
